A few months ago I drew an hourglass in my notebook. I don’t know where it came from. I only draw things that speak to me. Well, maybe it was a premonition for the below poem.

Hour Glass

Like the hour glass
We have but a short time
The sand shall fall
As our relationship hits it’s paradigm.
No matter how often it is flipped
The hour always ends.
Like our love which is never enough
Encapsulated, unable to transcend.
We live as the hour passes
No regrets form.
Our glass we think unbreakable
Even hit by our hearts’ storms.
Like the Romans
Our hourglass continues to wane
To explain emotions
Embodied in the sandy hurricane.
As the seconds pass
And the sun arrives
The sliver of glass is seen
A lovers suicide.
A puzzle piece is missed
Yet time does not stand still
To fix the breaking glass
Love has no refill.
The sand falls from the splintered glass
Scrutinized by past mistakes.
The shortest of times
That this hourglass breaks.
